Last October I was a guest on Let’s Talk with Salley Gibney. Writing and independent publishing  was the subject of the show. With the changes that have come to the publishing industry over recent years there are many people wondering  How to Begin Writing A Story?

Watch this video for insight into how an inexperienced writer became an award-winning published author.

This blog is brought to you by Sue Batton Leonard, author of the award-winning memoir Gift of a Lifetime: Finding Fulfilling Things in the Unexpected.

  1. Congratulations, Sue – you truly are following your passion! Great to see! Wishing you a very happy and successful new year!

I’m back to full-time publishing (hybrid or custom publishing) and last year, published or helped publish (set up books for authors who wanted to publish on CreateSpace) 40 books in several genres. New record that I don’t really want to do again this year – not much time to play!

From what I gather from your website / blog, you also help authors with marketing. That’s where most of them fall down, and as publisher and one-woman show, I can’t really do a lot of promotion on an individual basis.

It would be great to connect again! Best wishes, Kira

  2. Hi Kira, Wonderful to hear from you again. Yes marketing is another important part that many authors fail to include in their publishing because so much emphasis is put on publishing the manuscript. I help authors understand how to use social media effectively to become visible on the internet. So many independent publications are sold through e-commerce that an understanding of e-marketing is essential.
