Thirsty Thursday: Lifted Spirits

What is the difference between an obstacle and an opportunity? Our attitude toward it. Every opportunity has a difficulty, and every difficulty has an opportunity.” ― J. Sidlow Baxter

I love stories of finding ways to turn a difficult situation into a positive experience. This group of men decided to take matters into their own hands when their plane experienced a delayed lift-off!

This short video exemplifies the benefits that come “when we are no longer able to change a stituation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” ~ Victor Frankl

Thats all from All Things Fulfilling on this Thursday. I hope your spirits have been lifted in some way because somedays we all thirst for that.

Small Things Big Wonders

All of our life is a miracle. . . . There is not a minute in the twenty-four hours that is not filled with miracles.”
— Ralph Waldo Emerson

Have you ever noticed how the smallest things sometimes hold the biggest wonders? Consider:

  • The sudden appearance of blue-speckled robins eggs in the nest
  • An unexpected phone call from someone you were just thinking about
  • The delightful scent of a newborn baby’s head
  • A colorful rainbow after a wicked storm
  • Perfumed air from a gardenia, rose or lilac
  • The extraordinary talent of a musician, painter, dancer, writer or singer who has had no training
  • The crowing glory of the daffodils through the snow

When did you last stop, take heed and intently observe  a small thing that holds big wonders? Springtime holds an abundance of opportunity! Recharge your life by being keenly observant as the season of renewal unfolds and opens up. Deeply inhale all the goodness and find gratefulness in each daybreak and sunset.

E-Books: A Vital Option

The freedom to move forward to new opportunities and to produce results comes from living in the present and not the past.” ~ Brian Koslow

Shopping-CartIf you are ready to publish your manuscript, there are many choices to consider. Offering an electronic version of a book has become a necessity if you are an author who wants to reap the benefits in the digital marketplace. More often than not, potential book buyers want to know if a title “is available as an e-book?”

According to a recent article in Publishers Weekly Magazine, sales in e-books have dipped a little from when the Kindle and the Nook were initially rolled out. However,  e-book sales have remained strong, jumping a total of “4,456% since 2008.” That is a big deal and e-books have become a “billion dollar industry” according to the article. Here is a link so you can see all the e-book selling statistics from 2008 – 2012. http://bit.ly/Hc3JVq. We won’t see the 2013 book sales results for a few more months.

In my opinion, there will be more technological developments coming that will blow away any remaining doubts that e-books are just a passing trend. Especially as digital publishing becomes integrated into more classrooms and library catalogs.

Authors don’t miss out on a stream of income by failing to offer an e-book version of your title. And remember “if you are selling over the internet, you must be marketing over the internet” because that is where your potential book buyers hang out!

Speaking of hang-outs, thanks for frequenting this website. Do return tomorrow to www.AllThingsFulfilling.com tomorrow, the blog of www.CornerstoneFulfillmentService.com.

TED: Ideas Worth Spreading

Opportunities don’t happen, you create them.” ~ Chris Grosser

ted2Have you ever attended an event just because your intuition tells you that you will enjoy it? I am rather excited. Next week, I have decided to attend a TED Conference at the Bud Werner Memorial Library. It will be broadcast from Long Beach, California.

It’s interesting – the power of words. The titles of the sessions, alone,  have more than piqued my curiosity – vocabulary like progress enigma, the spark, dream, create, sustain, coded meaning, secret voices and the ripple effect. I’m on board – sounds enticing!

Attending the gathering will be progressive thinkers and doers from the fields of technology, entertainment and design. Speakers will be challenged to stimulate and inspire others to engage in the ideas they will be presenting.

To learn more about TED and the non-profit organization’s mission, visit their website. http://www.ted.com/

Here is the schedule for the four day event at our local library as listed on their website. The event is free, open to the public and you can attend various sessions throughout each day or stay and listen in on the entire conference.

If  the TEDS conference is as informative and educational as I anticipate, I will be sharing some of the ideas on All Things Fulfilling two weeks from now. Join in and participate in the discussion.

Visit us again tomorrow on All Things Fulfilling, where sharing independent thoughts, words and views is all part of the business. This blog is brought to you by www.CornerstoneFulfillmentService.com.
